We can’t help but wonder…will this TV adaptation be as good the second time around?

AnnaSophia Robb is stepping into the role of Carrie Bradshaw (made famous by Sarah Jessica Parker on Sex and the City) for CW’s upcoming pilot, The Carrie Diaries, and on Wednesday we got our first look at AnnaSophia in character! While the frumpy outfit isn’t very “Carrie,” the 18-year-old Soul Surfer actress transformed her straight locks into Carrie’s signature waves. The show, based on the book of the same name, will follow the sex columnist way back when (aka high school!) as she tries to navigate love and relationships in the big apple as a teenager.

And although we know she ends up with Mr. Big when the HBO series was said and done, it appears as though she’ll be romanced by one dreamy fella on the show!

Vanessa Hudgens‘ beau Austin Butler will play her boyfriend in high school, and though he’s not actually Big, he’ll set the course for her relationships hits (and misses) in the future.
