難忘的一天

I will always remember New Year's Day in 2001.

我將永遠(yuǎn)記得2001年的元旦。

Early that morning my sister and I received a phone call.

那天一大清早，我姐姐和我接到一個(gè)電話。

We were told Grandma had fainted and was being taken to a hospital in Taichung.

電話中我們得知祖母昏倒后正被送到臺(tái)中一家醫(yī)院。

The moment we received the message, my uncle drove us to the hospital as fast as he could.

一接到這個(gè)消息，叔叔便盡快地載我們到醫(yī)院去。

It was a long iournev from Taipei.

從臺(tái)北到臺(tái)中路很長(zhǎng)。

While we were on the road, holiday bumper-to-bumper traffic slowed us down to a snail's pace and a car accident the previous day made the congestion worse.

一路上，假日大排長(zhǎng)龍的車流使我們慢得如蝸牛一般，而前一天的一場(chǎng)車禍?zhǔn)谷嚫鼮閲?yán)重。

Consequently, we got stuck for more than six hours on the highway.

因此，我們?cè)诟咚俟飞媳焕Я肆鶄€(gè)多小時(shí)。

We were worried about Grandma the whole time.

我們一直擔(dān)心祖母。

As soon as we arrived at the Taian Rest Area, we anxiously phoned home.

一到泰安休息區(qū)，我們滿懷焦慮地打電話回家。

However, Grandma had died of heart failure just half an hour before we called.

然而，在我們打電話前半小時(shí)，祖母已因心臟衰竭而去世。
