SCENE① D  文斯與艾文向外走進大廳，低聲說話 

【我能信得過你嗎？】

Vince:  Just remember. The main thing right now is to make sure Stars.com is happy.

文斯：         切記一件事。目前的要務是確保Stars.com高興。

Elvin:  Right. You're right. But she's just 1) evil. Someone should 2) drive a stake through her heart.

艾文：  對，你說得對。不過她真是邪惡到家。真該有人讓她木樁穿心的。

Vince:  Elvin, please. Can I count on you to 3) keep your cool for a week, or not?

文斯：         艾文，別這樣。你給我冷靜一個星期，我能信得過你嗎？

Elvin:           I'm OK. I'll be fine. I'v cool. I'm cold. I'm like ice. She won't know what hit her.

艾文：         我可以。我會沒事的。我很冷靜。我冷若冰霜。她不會知道是被誰暗算的。

Vince:         By the way, how's the nose? Boy, that must have hurt.

文斯：         對了，鼻子還好嗎？要命，那一定痛死了。

語言詳解:

A: What did you see in Paris?

   你在巴黎看到什么？

B: All the main tourist spots.

   所有主要的觀光景點。

【用hit表示“猝不及防”】

有些事情來得突然，讓人在毫無準備的狀況下，除了傻眼還是傻眼。此時你就可以活用這個

hit 字，來表達事出突然，讓人猝不及防的感覺。可能是無預警的天災。

A: The storm hit before Rick could do anything about it.

     暴風雨來時，瑞克根本措手不及。

B: Yeah, he didn't know what hit him. He was probably killed instantly.

     對啊，他不知道被什么襲擊。他八成是當場斃命。

也可能是人禍，遭人暗算。

A:  When she left with all his money, Dirk just *sat around month after month.

     她帶著他所有的錢離開，迪克就這樣月復一月地呆坐。

B: It's understandable. It all happened so fast. He didn't know what hit him.

     可以理解。這發(fā)生得很突然。他根本不知道是怎么回事。

*sit around   坐著發(fā)呆，無所事事

1) evil (a.) 邪惡的

2) drive在此指“釘木樁”的動作，stake 就是“木樁”。drive a stake through one's heart“木樁穿心”原來是對付“吸血鬼”vampire  的必殺技，在此是因 Elvin 覺得Zina 太過邪惡才這樣比喻。

3) keep one's cool 保持鎮(zhèn)定、冷靜
