【她可都是玩真的】

Elvin:           I used to 1) be down on the sales people until I saw her 2) in action.

艾文：         我以前對(duì)業(yè)務(wù)員都很失望，直到我見(jiàn)識(shí)到吉娜的能耐。

Dave:  She means business, for sure.

戴夫：         她可都是玩真的。

Elvin:  Most salespeople seem like 3) half-brains. Zina's definitely an 4) exception.

艾文：         大部分的業(yè)務(wù)看起來(lái)都沒(méi)大腦。吉娜絕對(duì)是個(gè)例外。

Dave:  We'd better get back to work.

戴夫：         我們最好回去工作了。

Elvin:  Yeah, I'm not too worried about Vince, but I'd hate to face Zina if  we don't 5) deliver...

艾文：         是啊，我還不太擔(dān)心文斯，但若我們搞不定，我可是打死不想面對(duì)吉娜……

 語(yǔ)言詳解

A: It's definitely time you got a haircut.

   你絕對(duì)該去剪頭發(fā)了。

B: I know. My hair is always in my eyes.

   我知道。我的頭發(fā)老是跑進(jìn)眼睛。

 【mean business 玩真的】

mean business是表示“當(dāng)真，玩真的”，沒(méi)有兒戲的成份在內(nèi)，一心一意地去達(dá)成某件事，未必和“生意”business有關(guān)：

A: I still can't believe Mary got into college.

     我還是不敢相信瑪莉考進(jìn)大學(xué)了。

B: Well, she meant business this time.

     呃，她這次是玩真的。

mean business也可以表示為了某種目的而來(lái)：

A: Why are the police outside?

     警察怎么會(huì)在這兒？

B: They mean business. Otherwise, they wouldn't have come here.

     他們來(lái)辦事。要不然沒(méi)事他們不會(huì)來(lái)的。

1) be down on... 對(duì)……感到失望，看不起。

2) in action  在行動(dòng)中，在動(dòng)作中

3) half-brain  (n.) 只有半個(gè)腦，意即“沒(méi)大腦，白癡”。

4) exception  (n.) 例外

5) deliver  (v.) 成功達(dá)成交付任務(wù)
